Dr. R. Sivakumar comes from a family which practices medicine since generations. He is the son of Dr. A. Ramalingam, a graduate and eminent Physician from the field of Siddha and Dr. R. Meenakshi, a graduate and distinguished Practitioner of Homeopathy Medicine, both being the descendent of renowned families from South India who practice Indian medicine traditionally.

Even though Dr. R. Sivakumar was born and brought up in the metropolitan capital, the most happening city of South India, Chennai, his love for Indian Medicine made him to join the pioneer of all Medical Systems in the World, the Ayurvedic System of Medicine.

He finished his graduation (B.A.M.S., Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery) from the famous century old college of India, The Venkataramana Ayurvedic Medical College, Mylapore, Chennai and did his masters specializing in Kayachikitsa (Internal Medicine) from another famous 75 years old College, Hubli Ayurveda SevaSamiti’s Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Hubli.

During his Post Graduation, he did his research work on Osteo Arthritis and proved the concept of Chondrogenesis(possibility of redevelopment of cartilage in the joints) through Ayurveda, (which the contemporary systems of medicines are still researching on) for which he was greatly appreciated by Department of AYUSH, Government of India, New Delhi at the Centenary celebrations of the Government Ayurveda College, Mysore, Karnataka.

He had consistently been a top performer throughout his graduation and post-graduation and graduated as one of the leading mark scorers. He had been practicing Ayurveda even before completing his internship. Throughout his U.G., he got well trained under Dr. L. Mahadevan M.D. (Ayu),Director, Sri Sarada Ayurveda Hospital, Kanyakumari and Dr. A. Ramalingam. While doing his PG, he had been a part time consultant in WEKAS and SrinivasaSnehmaKshemaAbivriddi Society (SSKAS, an NGO), Hubli.

His desire to develop multispeciality hospitals in Ayurveda made him to do his M.B.A in Hospital Management from Alagappa University, Tamil Nadu during the same time of his post-graduation.

He was a notable faculty of the Department of Internal Medicine at Sri Sairam Ayurveda Medical College and research centre, Tambaram, Chennai for 11 years from 2010 to 2021. He taught final year clinical subjects for the students and was also the part of the medical team handling the OPD and IPD patients of college attached hospital.

He presently holds the post of Secretary for "AYURVEDA POST GRADUATES ASSOCIATION, TAMIL NAADU" (APGAT), first of its kind in India is also the Vice President for ALL INDIA AYURVEDA CONGRESS, CHENNAI UNIT, and TREASURER for National Ayurveda Students and Youth Association, Tamilnadu (NASYA) and represent the organisations at all the levels and been an important personnel in bringing out the first Government Ayurveda College at Kottar, Nagercoil, in Tamil Nadu.

He has presented numerous research papers in Challenging Diseases and has given informative guest lectures in schools, colleges.He also continuously writes health articles in newspapers, magazines and addresses media, tv, news channels frequently. He is an active member of Rotary Club of Chennai Golden Star and is the Distric Chairman for Ayurveda Medicine for the Rotary Year 22-23, he served as Assistant Governor of Rotary International District 3232 – Region 13 for the year 21-22, he was the Associate Director – maternity and Child Health, RID 3232. He does many free medical camps on behalf of rotary and frequently addresses the public and gives lectures on Uniqueness of Ayurveda and its benefits through Rotary, Lions Clubs and Ngo organisations. He has addressed more than 50 individual rotary clubs in District 3232 on important health topics from 2010 until now.

He runs speciality clinics at Koyambedu, West Mambalam, Shenoynagar, Mogappair West, Thirvannamalai and Sivagangai and treats people in distress. He is an expert in Panchakarma (Unique treatment modalities of Ayurveda) through which he cures innumerous diseases right from common cold to Cancer.Arthritis, Stroke, Psoriasis, Asthma are his specialities.

He has his own multispeciality medical facility, first of its kind in Chennai – The Chennai Heritage Hospital, a state of art 30 bedded multispeciality hospital in Ayurveda and Siddha and efficiently runs the hospital as its Medical Director (www.chennaiheritagehospital.com)

He is the Past President of Rotary Club of Chennai Golden Star, and has done remarkable works during his tenure as president in the field of Projects, Ayurveda Awareness, Membership etc. He was even awarded with the Best President award for the Rotary Year 18-19 in the Rotary District 3232, India

Ulaga Tamil AraichiNiruvanam, Government of Tamilnadu has felicitated him with the Prestigious Dhanvanthri Award recently for his contribution towards ancient medicine.

His was also conferred with Ayurveda Nakshatra Award by the Ayurveda Graduates Association of Tamilnadu for his contributions to Ayurveda.

Doctor is also the member of executive body, International Association of Ayushpathi and frequently visits Kaulalumpur, Malaysia not only to treat patients but also to teach Ayurveda to general public.

Our Director was gifted a space pen which can be used to write in 0 gravity, underwater, under pressure by father of BrahMos Missile Technology and close associate of Dr.Abdul Kalam, Mr. Sivathanu Pillai.

Mr. Sivathanu Pillai is an Indian scientist who currently serves as Honorary Distinguished Professor at Indian Space Research Organization and an Honorary Professor at IIT Delhi in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and a Visiting Professor at Indian Institute of Science.
